Hello everyone and welcome to July’s first Seriously Geeky Sundays topic, Romance is in the Air! As a Libra, I’m drawn to romance in all my fandoms and ship a lot of couples. That reminds me, I really need to update my ships list.
I’ve had a rough week so forgive me for a shorter post than usual this week.
A Reminder
Please remember to drop your link in the link-up at the end of the post. This is so other participants and readers can read your answers 🙂 Take a moment to check out the other links listed there too and read some of the fantastic answers by other SGS participants 🙂

Romance is in the air
My answers for week #14

Who is your favourite couple?
I ship a lot of fandoms and I’ve talked about my favourite OTPs before and more recently my favourite Star Wars couples. However, my OTP post was written before I started reading DC Comics and it re-sparked my love for one of my favourite couples; Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon. I fell in love with Dick and Babs back in the original Batman TV Show, then later in the animated TV series and the movie Batman and Robin.
There’s always been something about these two together that has always been special and whether they end up together or they keep doing their will-they-won’t they thing I’ll be there for it.

What is your favourite romantic scene?
This was an easy one and it’s going to be a long time before anyone tops this one for me. It’s Barry Allen’s proposal to Iris West in The Flash which is in the musical cross-over episode with Supergirl. Both Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist are multi-talented performers who used to be in Glee and this episode let them and other cast members from both shows really shine. The episode ends with the most beautiful song written purposely for Grant to sing and is about Barry and Iris, and you really need to just watch it yourself to experience its full magic.

What is the perfect fictional place for a romantic date?
For me, the perfect romantic place is a mix of natural beauty and somewhere interesting to explore, and this hill in Stormsong Valley, Kul’Tiras from World of Warcraft fits that bill for me. It’s a lovely peaceful place where you won’t be disturbed on your date with this strange monolith/statue sitting in the middle of it to give you just that little bit of history/mystery to explore/talk about.
My other perfect place for a date is actually Molten Core, the first raid in World of Warcraft. It’s the place I met my fiance Chris so doing fun runs there with him is always a special thing to me even if we’re just doing a casual run for transmogs.

Some romantic scenes are adorable, and then some are just plain awkward. What’s the most awkward scene you can recall?
There are so many times when I’ve literally hidden under the bedcovers cringing and that was what inspired this question in the first place. Of course, my memory of all those times disappeared when it came to actually answer this question.
The one I did remember was this one from one of the Arrowverse of crossover events, Crisis on Earth-X. In one of the parts of Sara and Alex have a one night stand the night before Barry and Iris’ wedding. Alex is still coming to terms with her sexuality and sneaks out, meeting her sister Kara at the wedding venue. As the two sisters stand there talking Sara comes along and one of the most awkward exchanges take place between the two ladies as neither one can quite remember the others name.
Then Sara lets the bomb drop; “How are you? How’s your butt?”
She then explains that she heard Alex fall out of bed when she snuck out and it sounded like it hurt. At this point, Kara has caught up to what happened, and what her sister’s vague excuses moments before about being ‘out out’ were really about.
This scene is just so wonderfully adorably awkward. I also love that it features a confident bisexual woman and a woman who is just discovering her sexuality. Usually, these sort of scenes are focused on heterosexual relationships and by choosing these two characters it offered the writers to give both Sara and Alex perspective in their own lives and relationships.
We also get the brilliant conversation after Sara goes into the church leaving a mortified Alex with a giggling Kara. Kara was shocked when her sister came out to her, but after that initial surprise she has been completely supportive of her and the sisterly vibe from this conversation is brilliant. It’s just the right mix of ‘oh you didn’t’ along with ‘well dish then!’.
Watch it below (skip to 2:15 for the scene):

What is your favourite wedding scene?
My favourite wedding scene features my all-time OTP Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker. Their wedding is an unsurprisingly a messy affair with politics, multiple sabotage attempts, and the boys getting into a bar fight (well what do you expect with smugglers and starfighter pilots?!). When the wedding itself finally gets a chance to happen the couple have two ceremonies; a public one and the beautiful scene above. It’s a Jedi only ceremony and I just love the way the other Jedi lifted their lit lightsabers in salute as an arch for them to walk under.

Pick a fandom and play kiss/marry/avoid!
So I’ve picked Titans, the TV Show version for this one and it wasn’t easy to narrow it down to just one character for some of these!
Kiss – Kory
The beautiful Miss Koriand’r is talented, passionate and loyal. Who wouldn’t want a chance to kiss her?
Marry – Dick Grayson
I had a crush on Dick as a kid and grew to admire him as an adult. He’s cheeky, gorgeous, hardworking and one of the biggest hearts in the DC universe. A lot of people are put off by how many women he’s been with, but I don’t really see him as someone who randomly sleeps around. He gives his heart to each and every lady he’s been with.
Avoid – Hank Hall
Hank is an extremely troubled person. Drug addiction will always be a major turn off, and he has a temper that is terrifying.
