Every year for repDISND I like to provide members of the disabled and neurodivergent community with the chance to voice their thoughts on representation. Not everyone has the time to run a platform, and it takes time to build a presence online. Read on for more information about guest posts and interviews for repDISND.

Guest Posts for repDISND

A guest post is an article written by someone else and posted here at Just Geeking By. There have been multiple guest posts over the last few years, covering a wide range of topics (visit the information hub to see previous years’ content!).

I am open to anything related to disabled and neurodivergent representation, however, due to a bad apple last year a few ground rules need to be set:

The work must be your own. Any images or quotes from other sources must be properly credited.
AI must not be used in any way.
I’m happy to post controversial topics, but there must be a clear argument with evidence provided. I’m not here to be the proxy for any drama or disputes.
All guest post topics need to be discussed and approved by me. Contacting me about guest posting does not equate to being approved to guest post.
Articles need to be in English; this blog has translations installed.
I require a short biography to add to the guest post. You do not need to disclose any health details in your biography or post if you do not wish to.

Interviews for repDISND

Do you identify as disabled and/or neurodivergent and want to talk about representation? I would love to interview you!

A requirement for all interviews is:

I want people to feel as comfortable as possible with the interview process, however, please try to complete all the questions. If you feel uncomfortable/find it difficult to answer a question, then you may skip a total of two questions if necessary. An exception is the questions aimed at work and hobby projects if these questions do not apply to you. Everyone’s experiences are important 🙂

A requirement for basic and custom interviews is:

I require four photos/images to accompany the article, one of which is an image that represents yourself. This can be a piece of art (no AI), a photo of yourself or a professional headshot. This is needed for the article’s header image, as seen here.

Interview Questions

For interviews, I use a set of pre-written questions, and these are the easiest for me to complete as they require a lot less energy for me.

What type of work do you do?

What can you tell us about your latest project [insert other appropriate word i.e. book]?

What type of disabled and/or neurodivergent representation is in your work?

What was representation like when you were a child?

How do your own experiences shape your work?

Can you tell us about some of your favourite examples of disabled and/or neurodivergent representation?

Who/what has influenced your work?

Do you feel that disabled and/or neurodivergent representation is changing?

What would you like to see represented more?

What favourite disabled and/or neurodivergent people do you recommend checking out?
