Welcome to the GeekDis 2021 Content Hub!

2021 was the first year GeekDis (now called repDISND) was held, and although there was only a month to prepare, we managed to create a nice amount of content for a first-time event! For the first event, participants focused on identifying disability representation and what it meant to us. We discussed representations we considered accurate, ones that were not, and what disability representations we would like to see in pop culture. These discussions took place on social media, in blog posts and in a group interview. I also interviewed members of the disability community to find out their thoughts about disability representation.

Here at Just Geeking By, I reviewed several books with disability representation and held a giveaway for people to win a copy of one of their choice. There were also two other giveaways sponsored by two chronic illness-related small businesses. Other bloggers talked about a range of topics related to disability representation in pop culture, ranging from how disability representation affects our self-talk and goals, to examples of disability representation throughout pop culture and what people got right or wrong.
