It’s week 7 of Seriously Geeky Sundays and this week’s topic was decided based on the enormous amount of food-related national holidays surrounding. Yesterday was national barbecue day, today is cherry cobbler and walnut day, and tomorrow is cheese souffle day! It was just too good an opportunity to miss to talk about food!

Week 7 also heralds another theme announcement! That’s right – June’s questions are here 😀 Captains, father figures, and more as we continue to delve into your fictional and geeky interests every Sunday!

Seriously Geeky Sundays is a brand new weekly geeky prompt starting today. If you’re new then head over to the SGS information page to learn everything you need to know.

At the end of this post is a link-up for you to pop a link to your own answers into it.

My answers for week #7

Seriously Geeky Sundays Week 7 - If you could have any fictional food item become reality, what would it be?

If you could have any fictional food item become reality, what would it be?

When I was a kid I was obsessed with the Saddle Club books and the girls would go to an ice cream parlour all the time. Carole and Lisa had their favourites, usually hot fudge or chocolate, but Stevie would always create these amazing super creative concoctions. I’ve always loved ice cream, and we never had ice cream parlours when I was a kid so this has always sounded like the best thing to me. As an adult, I’ve been able to have multiple scoops of gelato when on holiday in the Mediterranean, however, I’ve never been to an actual ice cream parlour where you can have sundaes or make your own sundaes.

Seriously Geeky Sundays Week 7 - What is your favourite food moment/scene?

What is your favourite food moment/scene?

I mentioned these briefly last week when talking about Frank and Henry Regan from Blue Bloods. Every week the family has a Sunday Dinner and everyone turns up to it. It’s a tradition that was started by Henry’s wife because she came from a poor Irish family and never had food growing up. She liked to show off that she could provide for her family, and now for the family it’s a chance for them to always be together no matter how hectic their lives become.

As someone who’s an only child and comes from a family filled with drama I really appreciate that. It reminds me of a simpler time before petty arguments ruined everything and all the family got together every year for Christmas at my grandparents’ house and we had a huge dinner.

Seriously Geeky Sundays Week 7 - What fictional restaurant would you like to visit?

What fictional restaurant would you like to visit?

The Red Bird Diner from the TV Show Private Eyes. It’s owned by Don Shade the father of one of the lead characters, Matt Shade. Don’s a retired electrician who ended up taking over the diner and it just seems like a really nice welcoming place. From all accounts the food also seems amazing.

Seriously Geeky Sundays Week 7 - What is the most decadent dessert you’ve seen in a fandom?

What is the most decadent dessert you’ve seen in a fandom?

The food from the movie Marie Antoinette (2006). So many gorgeous pastries and cakes made by an artisan patisserie in New York for the film. It’s the absolute height of decadence and gluttony, but it does look so yummy!

What is the most disgusting food item you’ve seen?

World of Warcraft has a few cooking recipes that have made me do a double-take over the years. A few from memory are item and item. Don’t they just sound yummy? 😛

What is your favourite fandom inspired recipe/food item?

I don’t tend to have the time or energy to make a lot of food, and fandom inspired recipes usually require more than most as they tend to be more intricate. I’m a big fan of cakes and cupcakes inspired by fandoms though because these give creators a really great canvas to work with. My go-to for recipes is Monica at Popcorn Reviews because she is an absolute creative genius and her recipes are so straight forward. The fact that she’s a massive Star Wars fan is a bonus!
