Hi everyone. This news probably feels like it comes completely out of the blue, however, for me, it’s been something that has been on my mind for a few months now. While I used to approach the task of creating new questions for Seriously Geeking Sundays with excitement I’ve gradually been dragging my feet each month. There’s been growing anxiety alongside the task too; what do people think of the questions? Are the themes ok? Am I capturing people’s attention? And; why are people dropping out one by one?
When I opened my organiser last night and saw that I needed to write a new set of questions this week I groaned out loud and that for me was a sign that Seriously Geeky Sundays should come to an end.
I would rather stop SGS now before it becomes an entirely sour experience and while it still has happy memories for me. I started Seriously Geeky Sundays last April in the middle of the pandemic when we had no idea what was going to happen. It was an idea I’d wanted to implement for a while and I thought it could help people keep their minds off what was happening while in lockdown. SGS exceeded my expectations in that regard and brought new friends into my life, growing into our SGS crew. Over the last year, participation has declined and I’m not unhappy about that because it’s a sign that people are busy, their lives are hopefully back on track after a long period of no one knowing what was going to happen.
The Seriously Geeky Sunday prompts will always be here for anyone who needs them. If you’re going through a difficult time or have writer’s block, then please use them and tag me. I’ll always love to see your answers! But as of the 30th of May 2021, there won’t be any new prompts. Thank you to everyone who has joined me on this journey, whether it was for one prompt or many. It has been a delight to meet you and read your answers. SGS may one day return, and I’m certainly not going anywhere, so expect there to be new things happening here at Just Geeking By 😉
