One of my favourite parts of GeekDis is being able to give away books with disability representation to help spread awareness. Thanks to the generosity of some of my wonderful readers who have bought me coffees throughout the year I am able to give away three books this year. The first of those is One for All by Lillie Lainoff. Read on to find out more about One for All and how to enter the competition!

About One for All
An OwnVoices, gender-bent retelling of The Three Musketeers, in which a girl with a chronic illness trains as a Musketeer and uncovers secrets, sisterhood, and self-love.
Tania de Batz is most herself with a sword in her hand. Everyone in town thinks her near-constant dizziness makes her weak, nothing but “a sick girl”; even her mother is desperate to marry her off for security. But Tania wants to be strong, independent, a fencer like her father—a former Musketeer and her greatest champion.
Then Papa is brutally, mysteriously murdered. His dying wish? For Tania to attend finishing school. But L’Académie des Mariées, Tania realizes, is no finishing school. It’s a secret training ground for a new kind of Musketeer: women who are socialites on the surface, but strap daggers under their skirts, seduce men into giving up dangerous secrets, and protect France from downfall. And they don’t shy away from a swordfight.
With her newfound sisters at her side, Tania feels for the first time like she has a purpose, like she belongs. But then she meets Étienne, her first target in uncovering a potential assassination plot. He’s kind, charming, and breathlessly attractive—and he might have information about what really happened to her father. Torn between duty and dizzying emotion, Tania will have to lean on her friends, listen to her own body, and decide where her loyalties lie…or risk losing everything she’s ever wanted.
This debut novel is a fierce, whirlwind adventure about the depth of found family, the strength that goes beyond the body, and the determination it takes to fight for what you love.
Why I’ve chosen One for All
One for All by Lillie Lainoff resonated with me a lot. While I don’t have Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) I do have seven chronic health conditions, many of which have similar symptoms to what One for All’s protagonist Tania struggles with. I was also the “sick girl” growing up and back then books like One for All didn’t exist. This novel is so important in so many ways, and it’s also a brilliant historical fantasy novel about sisterhood and overcoming adversity with epic sword fights written by a real fencer!
You can read more of my thoughts about One for All by Lillie Lainoff in my review here.
For last year’s GeekDis I interviewed author Lillie Lainoff, and we talked about One for All and the importance of disability representation. I highly recommend taking the time to read the full interview which is here.

I’m a constantly dizzy girl myself, and I’m always looking for my next read!
Have a chronic illness myself – looks an interesting read x
As someone who lives with a hidden disability I feel the character would really resonate with me
I have a chronic illness myself so it would be really nice to read a book where disability is represented by the main character, plus it sounds like a great story one I’d enjoy reading
I have to live with a hidden disability so i feel the character my really resonate with me
Fabulous storyline – will be a great read
sounds interesting
It looks really quirky & gripping!
As well as having Tachycardia, our son has several other disabilities. As a young teen, I was ‘written off’ as I developed Epilepsy and was told that I could not have the career I had chosen as a Nurse. Despite this and other reasons, I went on to have a career in Dementia Care as a Registered Manager. I would love this book!
I am so sorry to hear that you went through all that Alyson. Thank you for all you do in the field of Dementia Care, I’ve personal experience with family members who have had dementia. It’s why I chose to focus on the information needs of dementia carers for my Information and Library studies Masters dissertation several years ago.
Best of luck in the giveaway!
Sounds like a great mix of character and storyline
I’ve heard amazing things about this book! The disability rep sounds fantastic, and ‘the sisterhood of the *stab stab*’ is a great recommendation in and of itself.
This sounds so interesting! Kind of reminds me of the steampunk series, Etiquette & Espionage. But even better that this one has POTS representation!!!
That series has been on my TBR for ages! There is no steampunk in One for All, but the fight scenes and all the spycraft is amazing.
