Welcome to the first Seriously Geeky Sundays of 2021! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season before the world decided to get depressing again. Well, we’re here this week to take your minds off all that by talking about the fun things on the way; what’s happening in the geeky world for you in 2021. So pull up a chair and join me as I tell you all about the new releases I’m excited about and what geeky plans I have for 2021!
How to join in the fun!

- When promoting your posts to social media please use the hashtags #seriouslygeekysundays and/or #sgsun6 so others can find your posts.
- Please try to remember to use spoiler tags/warnings for brand new shows and movies.
- The whole point of Seriously Geeky Sundays is to have fun by expressing our geekiness and sharing it with each other. Sometimes people will say things you don’t agree with and that’s ok. The world would be a really dull place if we all acted the same way.
New year, new… fandoms?
My answers for week #41
Let’s start big; what release are you most looking forward to this year?
I’ve always wanted to play Vampire the Masquerade, and when I picked up the original game years ago I found that the graphics were so old that I couldn’t play it. When it was announced a few years ago that a second one was planned, I was so excited and have been following the development ever since. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 doesn’t have an exact release date yet but it’s due at some point this year.
As for TV, I’m really looking forward to the new Superman and Lois show! I grew up watching the New Adventures of Superman and I’ve watched Smallville, so I’m excited to have these characters and universe back on screen again. Ever since Tyler Hoechlin debuted as Clark Kent in Supergirl I said he needed his own show. I was so stoked when it was announced! I’m also a big fan of Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois, and I knew her from Grimm previously.
What new release this year are you not that hyped up about?
I don’t get the hype of WandaVision. I know the basic history and backstory of the Scarlet Witch even though I’ve not read any of the actual comics personally, so I understand the appeal. I loved both characters in the movies. I just really dislike the whole ‘stuck in a fake world’ scenario.
A new year often means new characters, what upcoming character are you looking forward to meeting?
Top of the list has to be the new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder, played by Javicia Leslie. I was not happy with how Ruby Rose handled the role of Batwoman. I’m really excited about having a brand new character, especially a woman of colour, taking over the role. As much as I love the character of Kate Kane I feel that the character has now been tainted by everything that has happened, and the show needs a fresh start. That fresh start is Javicia Leslie’s Wilder.
Tell us about something that has been on your backlog/to-do list for a while that you’re going to try to get to this year.
Last year I ticked off a bunch of TV shows on my backlog and this year I’m planning to tackle my video game backlog and books TBR pile, especially the hard copies sitting on my bookshelf. I tend to read in bed and don’t have a reading light so I’ve ended up building up quite a collection of hard copies to read.
Thinking of a fandom you follow regularly, what event or moment (big or small) do you hope happens this year?
To be honest I’m here for any crossover events in the Arrowverse shows. I really hope they expand to include some of the newer ones, or do some new crosserovers – Titans really needs to crossover with some shows! The addition of a new Superman show to the lineup offers up a whole world of potential storylines that involve the man of steel and end up involving other heroes.
In the spirit of resolutions, do you have any geeky ones?
I want to get back into playing more video games. I’m reworking my weekly schedule so that I have on and off days where I work some days and then have days completely off. It’s why I’m taking a hiatus for January so I can catch up on work and also start to get ahead of things. That way I can sit back, relax and delve into a game without worrying about having work to do.
