Forced Blog Hiatus - July 2019

As you can probably guess from the title, I’m not a happy bunny right now! July has been a horrible month for us, and the last few weeks have been one problem after the other. The week before last there was flu which triggered a nasty fatigue flare-up, and this week has been a massive heatwave resulting in today’s heatstroke. I had the same thing happen during last year’s heatwave when we were in London. I didn’t think it would be as bad up here, but clearly, my new found heat intolerance thanks to my ME means that I’m going end up like this every year when the heatwave comes around.

As if all that wasn’t enough to royally screw up my routine, disaster struck; an epic Windows 10 fail resulting in a complete reinstall.

I’ve lost everything that wasn’t on my external hard-drive. That’s about 40% of my files. All the necessary and important ones were on my hard-drive, except for the new stuff I’d been working on in the last month. That’s some a bunch of blog templates that I had recently created and not backed up. I keep repeating ‘it could be worse, it’s not the end of the world’ but it still feels like a big loss. At least *touch wood* my PC still works.

What this all means is that I need to focus my energy on other responsibilities for the next few weeks, possibly the rest of July and August. My dissertation is also due and I’ve not spent 3 and 1/2 years working on this to fail now. Thankfully I had the foresight (more like the experience with this type of bad luck) to back it up regularly online so I haven’t lost that.

So expect me back from my hiatus around the end of August/start of September once I’ve caught up with life and got everything else back in order!

  1. I had bronchitis in July, and my computer has crashed too many times to count. I know exactly how you feel, and I hope August/September was a lot better for you. 🙂

    1. Oh no! I hope you’re feeling better Katy *hugs* I’m also a veteran of PC crashes, but usually, it’s because the PC is old or clogged up… this is the first time windows + an old monitor has caused it!

August was a mixture as the first half was a stressful mess of getting my dissertation done (see one of my recent entries) and then the second half was spent relaxing!
