It is my pleasure to join the spotlight tour for Starlight Jewel by E. L. Lyons one of the books I had the pleasure of reading as one of the panellist’s in this year’s competition. I read Starlight Jewel in round one and two, reading both the 10k and 20k extracts. This year, the Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Award (BBNYA) is celebrating the books that made it into Round Two with a mini spotlight blitz tour for each title. BBNYA is a yearly competition where book bloggers from all over the world read and score books written by indie authors, ending with 15 finalists and one overall winner.

Right from the start Starlight Jewel captured my attention. E. L. Lyons sets up an intriguing premise with a young woman clearly hiding from her past. What I appreciated was that Lyon’s doesn’t hang around getting right to the point, and instead of drowning the reader in boring details about Axly’s life as a maid we’re whisked away as her luck runs out.  

The glittering court that Axly escaped is as dark and sinister as it is beautiful, and I was drawn in immediately. The 20k extract teased more secrets, thrills and compelling characters to come. Starlight Jewel promptly got added to my TBR and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

This is a book for people who like their fantasy reads to be dark and sexy with strong female characters.
