This post began as a 5 Fandom Fridays post when I misunderstood the theme (Womances, which you can read here!). I decided to update this and turn it into its own post about my favourite sapphic pairings! Enjoy 🙂

Every purchase you make through Just Geeking By helps keep this blog running.
Sara and Nyssa
Laurel Lance: Can you remember the sound of Sara’s laugh?
Nyssa al Ghul: When Sara was first brought to my father, the moment he weighed her apprenticeship or her execution, she bore witness to a demonstration of his power, one that inspired her and all that come before, but Sara… laughed. It was so innocent, so genuine. That was the moment I fell in love with her, I think. All I knew, all I craved was to her laugh once more.
I love this relationship from Arrow, there is something exceptional and tender about this couple.
When Sara dies, Nyssa’s pain is heartbreaking. Sara showed Nyssa a part of life that she had never ever experienced. Was she Nyssa’s salvation? I honestly don’t know because Nyssa’s still an assassin, but life isn’t that black and white and I don’t think being saved necessarily means becoming a good girl. Emotionally, I think Sara and Nyssa helped each other.
Bo and Tamsin
Tamsin: Your heart is both strong and gentle. You’re virtuous. Yet you’re a Succubus. You shouldn’t be.
Bo: Be what?
Tamsin: Be real. Be here.
Lost Girl is a treasure chest of sapphic pairings, but my favourite from the show is Bo and Tamsin. Despite being a Valkyrie, a deadly ancient warrior fey, she is so vulnerable. The exchange I quoted above was so raw, so real, and their relationship is as healing as it is passionate.
Myka and H.G. Wells
Helena: “How do you say goodbye to the one person who knows you better than anyone else?”
Myka: “I wish I knew.”
This pairing in Warehouse 13 is only hinted at on-screen (the actors that play Myka and Helena have discussed their thoughts on it; see here for more info). From the first moment these two met, the chemistry was clear. They’re two intelligent sassy women who kick ass, together they’re even more dangerous. Myka is the only one who can talk Helena down from doing something terrible. She understands her pain and never gives up believing that Helena is a good person despite some bad decisions.

Shane and Red
“Falling for Red was like being caught in a riptide, powerful, irresistible, already dragging her under. But even if Shane was going to drown in this, she couldn’t bring herself to pull away.”
I fell in love with all the characters in Leslie Vedder’s The Bone Spindle trilogy, and loved Shane and Red’s relationship. They are both struggling with their pasts, and they find strength and solace in each other. Apart they’re both incredible, together they’re a force to be reckoned with.
Maud and Violet

“She hadn’t anticipated Maud Blyth. She didn’t know how anyone ever could.”
The Restless Truth, the second book of Freya Marske’s The Last Binding trilogy, focuses on Maud and Violet’s relationship. The quote above sums it up for me; Violet was not anticipating someone like Maud appearing in her life. They’re quite different from each other, but when they do work together they’re absolute mischief. Watching them find each other was a joy, especially with all the chaos happening on the ship at the same time!
Honourable Mentions
Mallory and Cornelia from The Undetectables series by Courtney Smyth – I love these two and the will-they-won’t-they situation is going to be the death of me!
Mulan and Aurora from Once Upon a Time – This didn’t quite make the cut, but my heart broke every time Mulan looked at Aurora.
Magnus and Nichola from Sanctuary—These two only got together in one episode, but it was amazing and made such a big impact on me. I’d have loved to have seen more of these two, but sadly, we didn’t as Sanctuary came to an end.
Over to you!
Thanks for reading about 5 of my favourite sapphic pairings!

So much yes to Willow/Tara AND Willow/Kennedy. I’m not familiar with the other fandoms though.
That’s the thing I love about fandom friday, it gives you a look at other fandoms and can introduce you to new ones 🙂 Thank you for sharing the Willow/Kennedy love <3
You took this way more seriously than indid, and I love it!
I only just put womance and bromance together and realised that I didn’t need to necessarily go for romantic pairings. Oh well, done now and I still love these relationships and the chance to highlight that valentines day is about love, not one sort of relationship.
Awww Sara & Nyssa. It was cool! (Too bad that… you know what happens… sigh) Nice list btw!

I don’t really do shipping but I’m guessing ‘womance’ is the equivalent of ‘bromance’ and so mine would be:
Buffy & Willow – Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Bones & Angela – Bones
Garcia & JJ – Criminal Minds
Skye & Melinda – Agents Of SHIELD
Maura & Jane – Rizzoli & Isles
At least, those are the first ones that come to mind

I really struggled with this one and discovred I have very few femslash pairings. and that I really dislike the term ‘womance’
Bo/Tamsin? Huh, not really seeing that one, to be honest. Bo/Kenzi on the other hand I am all over. Likewise Willow/Tara ♥
Well, each to their own, personally I was just happy to have the chance to celebrate gay relationships in fandom. I noticed from other people’s answers that some people included ships that are friendships between women, which they consider to have romantic overtones. So while I ship Bo/Kenzi as friends I don’t really consider them romantically involved. Where as Bo/Tamsin have been intimate with each other and that is why I included them in my favourite womances.
Edit: It also just occurred to me that womance is the equivalent of bromance, and thus I didn’t necessarily need to stick to romantic pairings. However, that doesn’t change how I feel about these pairings and honestly, I’d probably have had an even harder time deciding on just 5 if I included any type of relationship. I ship way too many friendships.
