Shadowlands Anima Challenge: How much can I make in a week?

I have two characters at level 60 and both have finished their covenant campaigns. I wanted to move on to levelling my third character, the problem is that I need anima. Lots of anima. As someone who can’t raid due to my disabilities and struggles to do dungeons for the same reasons, this leaves me in a bit of a pickle. So the week following the reset (14th ) I decided to set myself a challenge; an anima challenge. Essentially I was going on an anima hunt. I was up to date on my covenant quests on both characters so I could afford to let them build up again on one character while keeping up to date on the character I chose for the anima hunt.

My two characters are a druid (Kyrian) and a mage (Night Fae). While my druid has the obvious advantage of stealth, my mage needs gear and reputation still, and as a Night Fae has been doing reputation for both Marasmius and Court of Night. I’d either have to put those on hold, which I really didn’t want to do as they’re getting so close to exalted or try to fit those in as well. Losing out on a bit of stealth seemed a fair trade in the long run.

My mage has also not picked up as many treasures as my druid has which gives me additional anima sources to plunder. So I plan to go for as many anima sources as possible; world quests, rares, treasures and maybe a daily heroic dungeon. Since that really depends on how I’m feeling I’m not going to push that. It’s also arena week which means no additional stuff to do for me personally so there is a strong chance I can get the weekly dungeon quests done.

I started with 861 anima in my sanctum reservoir before I began this challenge.

Shadowlands Anima Challenge: How much anima can I make in a week? - Anima at the Queen's Conservatory

How did I do?

I ended up with 13,974 by the end of my anima challenge week which I was pretty impressed with. 861 of that I already had, so I basically made 13k in a week, and towards the end of the week, I had other real-life things to prepare for which took precedence. As a result the number of rares I killed dropped dramatically because I simply didn’t have the time to even go look for them let alone wait for them to spawn. I also noticed that the treasures that I was looting for pets (Secret Treasure in Revendreth, Broken Bells, Hidden Hoards or Silver Strongboxes in Bastion and Spouting Growths and the Slime-Coated Crate in Maldraxxus) only spawn for 1-2 days and usually at the start of the week.

Likewise, I found that the amount of world quests giving anima seems to stave off towards the end of the week. That might just have been a complete coincidence and bad luck. But as I’m this the following week (Thursday) almost every quest in Ardenweald gives anima, whereas towards the start of this week (and the end of my challenge)  got two days running there were only two quests rewarding anima in Ardenweald.

I also got no dungeons done so I lost out on any additional anima from the daily heroics and dungeon quests. But I’m kinda glad that I didn’t and that the end of the week ended up busy because it gives me a baseline of 13k anima per week which I am pretty happy with. More would be great especially as I’m heading towards the higher ranks in my sanctum reservoir, but it shows that things aren’t as out of reach as they were beginning to feel.

I’m going to keep up my challenge for the next few weeks on my Mage to see how I go, and maybe I’ll then drop it to a farm week every other week if I’m getting fed up with it. Or if I’m not bored I’m just going to push through and get hers done before heading to my druid. I think I’m going to need to do them both before I seriously consider working on a third character, the third covenant because otherwise, I am just going to go back to do it again anyway.

Over to you

I’d love to know what you thought of this post and whether you found it useful so please drop me a comment 🙂 I figured as I was doing this challenge anyway and needed to keep note of how much anima I made I may as well make a post out of it! I hope it’s useful to someone else 🙂

It’s a decent amount for sure and suits my purposes. You need anima to unlock upgrades and buy things, and the most you need for an upgrade is 15k, while most only go to 10k. So I need 2 x 10k, 1 x 12k and 1 x 15k to finish all my upgrades. Then loads to buy everything (I’ve not counted all of that, I’m just going to take it as it comes!).

So a baseline of 13k a week means that I can do this a lot easier than I first thought. Whether I can make more or not doesn’t matter if I can do what I need to do 🙂
