Geeking by in January & February: Monthly Update

It’s a bumper addition of Geeking By monthly updates today as RL forced me to take multiple breaks from blogging over the past few months. I’m skipping over the end of last year because other than Christmas not a whole lot happened as it was filled with helping Chris’ mum sell her house and move into ours. It was all consuming and I don’t want to relive it by regurgitating it for you guys, so you’re just going to have to imagine that one! Let’s start with where Just Geeking By is at: I can’t talk about one without the other as they’ve both beenRead More →

My Word of the Year 2020: Kintsugi

In the most recent years every single World of the Year has had the common theme of change, changing me, and for my word of the year 2020 it’s time for something different. 2019 was a year of healing and perspective for me, of taking much-needed steps to recognise that I have PTSD and have had it for quite a while. Geeking By in July, August & September

Most of it was filled with me swearing at my PC and Windows 10, being grateful for my external hard drive which has about 70% of my files and me stressing as I finishedRead More →

With great success comes great failure?

On the same day, my scales tipped and then balanced. I had come to a realisation that I wasn’t happy with, one that admitted a failure that I had been trying to outrun since April. Just as despair and depression set in I was greeted with the most amazing news of a success that righted the scales again. I had done it. The work of four years had produced a result I had never thought possible. I would be graduating with a Masters in Information and Library Science – with Merit. It’s those last two words that make all the difference you see. I knewRead More →

Closing a Chapter - Talking about submitting my dissertation & my ME recovery

It’s the 18th August 2019 and a few hours ago I submitted the dissertation for my Information and Library Studies Msc, the final part of the Masters that has taken me over 4 and 1/2 years to complete That wasn’t how I planned for my Masters to go when I started it in September 2015, and when I started to feel ill I could never have imagined that my entire life was about to change so dramatically.  In the years since I’ve searched for answers to that all-important question; why me?? I spoke to other ME suffers who said that their symptoms started after aRead More →
