Dreadwake of the Ebon Blade Death Knight Transmog Set

When I think of a Death Knight I think blue. It isn’t because of their gleaming frozen eyes, or that one of their specs is frost. It’s because I’m reminded of my favourite expansion, the one that introduced them, Wrath of the Lich King. I’m sure there were plenty of players who got sick of the never-ending icy landscapes of Northrend, but for me I loved the blue, silver and purple shades employed by the art team to create a beautiful place that was juxtaposed by the horrific abominations of the Scourge.

Anyway, enough of the poetry. There are plenty of blue hues to choose from in the raid and pvp tiers for Death Knights so I decided to play mix and match for this set. To the point that I can imagine certain shade extremists crying in agony at this set. While I like my sets to match, I don’t believe in every single colour code needing to match perfectly. No one ever really looks at a transmog that closely in game – unless they’re judging a contest or have a personal desire to do so. Most of the time people are running past you on their way to do their dailies, they may stop for two seconds to peer at your set and then their off again.

This set, here, is based around the tier 21 shoulders item which are dual shaded; a crisp slate blue highlighted with azure light. Taking these two shades I built the rest of the set around these shoulders. Using the azure shade for the chest and legs, and the using the slate blue for hands, boots and waist. The item went naturally with the set, adding an additional Death Knight feel to it.

Is Dreadwake the name of the Death Knight that wore the armour? Or just the name of the set?

I’ll let you decide 😉

About #TransmogTuesday

Every Tuesday is #TransmogTuesday and I’ll be posting with a new creation. My main is a discipline priest called Kaelea, so I do tend to edge towards cloth transmogs more than anything else. The aim of this project is to push my own boundaries, to get creative and work on some themes and ideas I’d normally not consider. That means I’m open to suggestions! Themes, colours, a transmog set around a particular item? Let me know 🙂

You can see my pre-existing work over at Wowhead where I’ll also be uploaded any and all sets.

Over to you

This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about associating particular colours with certain classes; what is your colour for Death Knights?

How about your World of Warcraft characters, do you have specific colours that you lean towards for certain ones?

Let me know in the comments, as always I’d love to hear from you 🙂
